1. Our commitment
Forming a company involves forms, documents and deadlines. We want every part of Firmlane, from our guides to the formation wizard and your account, to be usable by as many people as possible, whatever device, browser or assistive technology they use.
2. The standard we aim for
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. This is a goal we design and build toward. Firmlane has not been certified as conforming to WCAG, and an independent accessibility audit has not yet been completed. We check key pages with automated accessibility tests and with keyboard and screen reader testing, and we fix issues as we find them.
3. What we have built in
- Keyboard navigation. Menus, forms and the formation wizard are designed to be used with a keyboard alone.
- Visible focus. When you move through the page with a keyboard, the focused element is clearly highlighted.
- Reduced motion. If your device is set to reduce motion, we reduce or remove animations. Animations never block reading or typing.
- Contrast. Text and interface colors are chosen to provide sufficient contrast.
- Labelled forms. Form fields have labels, and error messages are shown in text next to the field they relate to.
- Semantic structure. Pages use headings and landmarks in a logical order, so that screen reader users can move around them.
4. Known limitations
Despite our efforts, some parts of Firmlane may not yet be fully accessible. For example:
- documents issued by state agencies or the IRS, such as PDFs, are created by those agencies, and we cannot change how accessible they are;
- some parts of the payment process are provided by third parties, such as Stripe's card payment form, and their accessibility depends on those providers; and
- older content may not have been reviewed against every part of the standard.
If you find another part of the site that is hard to use, please tell us so we can fix it.
5. Getting help and alternative formats
If you have difficulty using any part of Firmlane, or you need information in a different format, email [email protected] (opens in a new tab) or use our contact page. It helps if you tell us:
- the page or step where you had the problem;
- what happened and what you expected; and
- the browser, device and any assistive technology you use.
We can also help you complete a step by other means, for example by answering questions by email or sending information about your order in another format where we can. We aim to reply within 2 business days.
6. Feedback
We welcome feedback on the accessibility of Firmlane. Every report helps us find and fix problems, and we treat accessibility issues as defects to be fixed, not as optional improvements.
7. Changes to this statement
We will update this statement as we test and improve our website. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page shows when it last changed.
