Why we exist

The hard part of forming a company shouldn't be the checkout.

Founders tell the same story: they choose a formation service for a low headline price, then meet add-ons they didn't expect, renewals they didn't notice and timelines nobody would commit to.

We think the better model is simple. Charge nothing for the standard formation service on eligible orders, pass government fees through at cost, and earn money from services founders actually choose to keep. That only works if we are upfront about all of it, so we are.

How we work

These are the rules we hold ourselves to. If you ever see us break one, tell us.

  • Every fee, itemized

    Our service fee and the state's filing fee are always separate lines. You see both before you pay, and the state fee is passed through at cost.

  • Optional means optional

    You never need an add-on to form your company. Optional services start unchecked and renewals only run with your consent.

  • Real statuses only

    We show what is actually happening with your order and never mark a step complete early or invent a date the state hasn't given us.

  • Built for founders everywhere

    Many of our customers live outside the US. We explain the steps that work differently for them, like EIN applications without an SSN or ITIN.

  • Clear about our limits

    Firmlane is not a law firm and does not give legal or tax advice. When you need a lawyer or an accountant, we say so plainly.

  • Careful with your data

    Identity documents are stored privately, access is logged, and we collect only what a formation actually requires.
